I've decided that life is too short to miss out on filling your life with things that inspire you. Most people who know me realize that I live and breath to create beautiful spaces and events. I truly love designing welcoming spaces, incorporating nature into interiors, styling flowers, using color, and entertaining. And....while I enjoy helping people create memorable occasions and inviting homes, I've often wondered if it were possible to do what I love and do good all at the same time? You know, make a real difference. Could I start a business that gives me a creative outlet while helping the neediest among us?
I'm happy to say that, after years of dreaming of ways to combine my design talent and my passion for serving others, I am launching Urban Island Design. Over the past year I've searched for the right location, developed a business model and philosphy that will allow me to practice interior redesign, event styling and couture floral design while building orphanages and sustainable villages around the world.
By partnering with The Global Orphan Project, it will take only $5,000 to building our first orphange, therefore 10% of our profits will go toward accomplishing that goal. This organization is doing great things and I'm very excited to join them in building sustainable villages and eco-friendly homes for abandoned children.
Also, as you can see, I've even created and trademarked a logo. I like it very much!! Thank you Aimie Dent for lending your graphic design skills to get it out of my head and onto paper! Watch for my website coming soon...I hope. This techie stuff is harder than it looks. : )
