I am feeling so very productive! I received my federal trademark for Urban Island, filed my business name with Los Angeles County, received my business license from the city of Rancho Palos Verdes, registered for L.A. Mart fall Gift and Home Market.
And while I loved going to market at High Point, NC, I have to admit that I've longed for the chance to be blissfully immersed in West Coast/Pacific Rim/Global decor and accessories. I hope to find plenty of fair trade, socially sustainable, and eco-friendly products to use in my design and event projects.
One of my favorite vendors showing at market is Palecek I truly love how they blend nature with design and function. This a company that shares my philosophy that style and sustainability go hand in hand. I really identify with the founder, farm-raised Alan Palecek, who is also drawn to native materials and organic designs. So here's to the weekend and a break from all the non-glamorous business and technical side of starting a company. Although I feel very accomplished and satisfied....I really do prefer to just "pick out the pretty colors" :)
That's why I love the Pacific coast. It's so pretty here. I can't wait to get outside, spend time with my family, and enjoy great weather and scenery!
