The October issue of Coastal Living magazine is packed with ideas for creating cozy coastal spaces. Here's a sneak peek at some of the great fall ideas.
Using a neutral palette that includes natural textures is by far my favorite way to create a cozy room. A beautiful room that can be elegant but still welcoming enough to lay on the floor or put your feet up a while. Adding a bit of color, like the soft blue here, draws the eye outdoors to the sky and sea.
In this kitchen, I find the crisp white cabinets and stainless steel refrigerator really make the room feel fresh and bright, while the wood countertops and rustic kitchen island add warmth. Touches like the industrial light fixture and the contemporary director's chair keep the space modern.
Sisal, sisal, sisal. Any room can be better by adding an organic texture. In this dining room the simplicity and symmetry are "cozied-up" with rich wood tones, lots of sunlight, and yep, you guessed it, sisal! Another thing I loved about this room is the pairing mid-century modern chairs with an antique stone table.
Okay, folks, I don't know how it happened but I love orange! I've never been much of an orange person but I find it to be the happiest of colors. Whatever shade you use, mango, pumpkin, or terra-cotta, I think goes with practically anything. In this contemporary but cozy room it really pops and complements the warm tones in the sea-grass ottoman and terra-cotta potted flowers.
Happy October to all!
